Gateway ( Ebenezer Christian ) Hybrid School , formerly Ebenezer Christian School, is not a conventional school that you would be accustomed to. We are a registered church school, but we operate in much the same way a home school would operate. All of our classes are geared to the needs of each individual student. Our class sizes are extremely small. Our teachers do not lecture the students with a new concept. For example, when a student is starting on a new lesson in math or English, he will come up to the teacher and she will explain on a one on one basis how to do the new concept. If the child understands the concept without being instructed, they will proceed to do the required work on their own. The teacher will then grade it. If the child is struggling with the new concept, she will break it down and take however much time the child needs in order to understand it. As soon as he is finished with the lesson for that particular class, he will move on to the next subject.
We teach the four basic core studies ; English, math, science, and social studies. If the students are motivated and desire to take a foreign language, or any subject of interest to them, we would do our best to accommodate. We also have a Bible class everyday. We instruct grades kindergarten through 12, and we do have a commencement exercise and give a diploma when all of the required studies by the state are met.
Our school day is from 8:45-12:15. Because each child is working at his own pace, everyone is able to get their work finished in less time. If for some reason they do not finish in class, they will be required to do it for homework. We do have a Bible memory verse every week and they will have to study at home for that as well. Also, small children who are beginning to read will have to read with their parents .
God has made everyone of us as individuals ,and we each have our own specific strengths and weaknesses. Our goal is to strengthen them in both areas. Howbeit, in the areas that they are strong, we will push them to the max. In the areas of their weaknesses, we will work with them and break the materials down in such a way that they will be able to understand in those areas as well. We want to see every child be the person God intended them to be. We will not put all of our students in a mold and expect the same things of each one of them.
If you cannot homeschool your child, we are the best alternative to help them, not only in the academic area of their lives but most importantly in the spiritual.
We use the Abeka curriculum from Pensacola Christian College in Florida.
For those who would rather homeschool your children, we do have a homeschool umbrella that you can go under. We will help you choose the books that you might like to use if you so desire. If you do not need any help in that area and are familiar with what you would like to use, we allow you to use any curriculum you desire as long as you
For those who would rather homeschool your children, we do have a homeschool umbrella that you can go under. We will help you choose the books that you might like to use if you so desire. If you do not need any help in that area and are familiar with what you would like to use, we allow you to use any curriculum you desire as long as you teach the four basic core subjects: English, math, science, and social studies. If you do choose to use the Abeka curriculum, it would be best to purchase that under the school because we get a 30% discount.
(we break that down into a 10 month pay period at $190 a month.) The cost for For each additional child is $190.00 per child per month. There is a $225 book fee per child per year. The Home School Field is $125 per family per year.
